After a fun filled day at home, 7 pairs of big girl panties wadded up in a pile in the laundry room, some inspirational reading on the potty, an entire roll of t.p. unrolled onto the bathroom floor, pee on the tile, carpet and couch...Mommy is calling it an unsuccessful try at potty training.
Mommy wants to know why James Dobson didn't write a chapter on Potty Training in his beloved book, The Strong Willed Child.
Here is an action shot of Abbie on the potty. Only, don't let the word "action" fool you. There was no tee-tee or poo-poo going into that potty.

Oh AC, tell Mommy that maybe Ryley and Abbie can chat some this Thursday about panties and how much fun they are. I am sure that Ryley's 9 months of extra life wisdom will come in handy :) We actually have a girlfriend who is 9 months older who we used as incentive at our house too!
Take a deep breath, she will get there soon enough- Love you! Syd
Um. Let's chat. Because so far NOT so good on PTing at the Sapp house :(
Bless your heart! This is such a hard one. My mom always said there was something magical about the week they turn 2 1/2. We tried about 2-3 weeks before that and it officially 'clicked' with our little strong-willed one the week she turned 2 1/2. I had not intended on even trying until after her 3rd bday, but I accidently broke my foot and couldn't drive for a month, so we gave it a shot...
Good Luck!!!
I'm so glad you get to do this first and let me know what works and what doesn't!!!
It's okay, Jana, don't get down on yourself or Abbie. It's all about readiness...do you have the Pottywise book? If not, I will come to your house and bring it to you. Let me know, just email me. Love you!
I agree with the 2.5 thing... Maddie was started at 2 and it took months for her to be accident free. Probably closer to 6 months. Then Haidyn we started about a month before she was 2.5 and it was in no time she was potty trained. So easy!
So, my mommy read this and she says there is NO WAY she is going to start potty training me now! She had this crazy idea that we would start tomorrow. But lucky for me, she read your blog! I get 8 more months of diapers!
Good luck and keep trying, Abbie!
Gus
I feel your pain. Stupid potties.
Thanks for all of your encouragement! We are still trying, but I am giving this girl her space. She is obviously going to learn this skill differently than I had planned:).
