The Beach...part 2 of 3

We had a really fun time at our beach house in Galveston. We stayed right on the beach, so we could hit the waves whenever we wanted to! Thanks, Noni and Hampaw for a fun vacation:).

Abbie, heading out for fun in the sun!

Enjoying a nilla wafer.
Us girlies at Shrimp 'n' Stuff.

ME!

Jumping a wave!
Playing in the sand
Mommy had to stop me everytime I would try to crawl into the ocean...something about it getting deeper and deeper??? I'm so fearless!

Mmmmmm...Strawberry ice cream!

Me and my Meme!

This was part 2 of 3 because I still need to write about the real reason we went to the beach in the first place...Mommy's cousin, Micah's wedding! Stay tuned....

Long Distance Buddies

My trip to Galveston is going to have to be a multi-blog event. There is so much to write about! One of the best things about visiting Houston is getting to see all of our friends. Since Mommy and Daddy lived in Houston for a long time before I came along, they still have some good buddies there. It was really great to see everyone!

Abbie and Gus dancing during a thunderstorm. The lights went out at the restaurant, so we got to eat and play by candlelight. It was so fun!
Here is Sawyer and I sharing our meal by candlelight. Look, he has curls like Abbie!
Mindy and Paige are 2 out of the 4 girls in Mommy's so called "knitting club." I want to know where all of the hand knit things are that Mommy apparently made....I have a feeling not a lot of "knitting" went on in that club:).
At the Aquarium, Abbie, me, and our good pal, Brady...we were trapped in a shark cage! Brady's mom, Kim is one of Mommy's oldest friends (oldest, meaning, they go waaaaaay back to the K-town days). Brady is only 1 month younger than me, so we got along really well. I like him because he thought I was funny:)!

More to come about our beach adventure and our cousin, Micah's wedding!!!!! Stay tuned:)!

Swim Like a Fish!

Abbie just finishied up a 2 week swim lesson session with Mrs. Terri. Every day, mommy and I dropped her off to swim with her BFF, Jameson. She was so brave not to need Mommy in the pool! She became quite the pro at holding her breath, blowing bubbles out her nose, closing her mouth, kicking her feet, and jumping off the side. Here are some pictures from the last day, when Mommy and I got to stay and watch.

Mrs. Terry with Abbie and Jameson...warming up in the swim rings.
This is a great shot of Abbie swimming under water. Mrs. Terri taught her to kick her feet under water, and blow bubbles out her nose.
And once she came out from under the water, she kept on kicking.
Taking a break while Jameson did his thing.

Way to go Abbie and Jameson! You two will be swimming by the end of the summer...I just know it! I can't wait until next summer when I can swim with Mrs. Terri:).

More blog posts coming your way...we just got back from the beach last night!!!

Father's Day and a White Trash Swim Party

(sorry if my title offends anyone!)

Happy Father's Day! Today, we treated our Dad (along with Hampaw, Great Grandaddy K, Great Grandaddy A, and soon-to-be dad Uncle Andy) to lunch at the country club. We love Daddies!

Here is the best Daddy in the world with the best daughters in the world. No, Daddy's not winking at you, it is just really hard to get all 3 of us to look and smile at the camera at the same time.
Uncle Andy, Abbie, Aunt E, and my future baby boy cousin (in tummy)

Now to the swim party. Mommy says that life is too short to always stop and put on your swim suit. Today was one of those days. First, we started in the front yard while mommy was watering her flower beds. She just started spraying us down. So we moved the party to the back yard, turned on the sprinkler, and made a makeshift slip n slide out of our splat mat. If only I had a penny for every time mommy told Abbie not to drink out of the sprinkler...

Notice Abbie in her big girl underwear? Well, we have big news...she learned how to use the potty today. She actually told mommy that she had to go, they ran to the potty, and voila! She has her first sticker on the sticker chart. I'm so proud of her!

Gretch Kids...minus 2:(

First of all, Mommy wanted me to say that we missed Jill, Andrew and Henry. We hope you can make it to our next Gretch Kids playdate.

The story of the Gretches is too long (and probably too boring for most of you) for this blog. But that is what mommy calls her little group of besties from Baylor. And now that there are kids (9 in all, and one on the way), we are the "gretch kids." Mommy has been friends with these fun girls for 12 years and their list of memories just keeps on growing.

Today, 2 of the gretches and thier kids, drove to our house for a playdate. Sydney is the mom to Ryley, Lucy, Jack, and baby in the tummy:). Stefani is the mom to Blake and Ben. We had a lot of fun playing and then eating lunch. Thanks, Syd and Stef for making the drive to our house. We can't wait to do it agian!!!

Hmmmmm...I wonder if any of the Gretch Kids will get married some day???

All or Nothing

This was the method Mommy thought she would use when potty training Abbie. She waited until the perfect day...it was warm outside, I was old enough to play and crawl around by myself, and most importantly, Abbie was ready. So she thought.

After a fun filled day at home, 7 pairs of big girl panties wadded up in a pile in the laundry room, some inspirational reading on the potty, an entire roll of t.p. unrolled onto the bathroom floor, pee on the tile, carpet and couch...Mommy is calling it an unsuccessful try at potty training.

Mommy wants to know why James Dobson didn't write a chapter on Potty Training in his beloved book, The Strong Willed Child.

Here is an action shot of Abbie on the potty. Only, don't let the word "action" fool you. There was no tee-tee or poo-poo going into that potty.

Searching for Patterns

At least, that's what Mommy would like to think Abbie is doing with these diapers. You see, Mommy was a math teacher before she was a Mommy, and she likes to look for early mathematical teaching opportunities:). Abbie also learns about patterns from her favorite TV show, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Check her out...

Hmmmmm, somethings just not right here...
Move this one here, and that one there...Pattern (I think???)!
Here's me, sunning at the splash park last Friday morning.

While You Were Sleeping

Apparently, a lot happens while I am taking my morning nap. Mommy says that I will not miss out on anything, but I found these pictures on the camera.

Abbie, spotting a ripe tomato.
Ohhhh, I think I'll pick it!
Mmmmmmm...I love tomatoes!
Giving the lawn a little trim.

Yep, I'd say that I am missing out on plenty:(. I can't wait until I only need 1 nap a day!

P.S. Check out my new blog photo. I am getting so big!

The Good Life

Here are some pictures from our week...

We started it off by going to the zoo. Mommy has a membership, so we seriously go once a week. Now that it is warm, we get to wear our swimsuits and play in the stream. Who needs to see the animals when you go to the zoo?

Abbie and the fake kangaroos.
Me...bathing beauty:).

Our friends Kye and Kace came over for a play date. Baby Kace is only a couple months old, but it seems like he is catching up to me fast. I need to have a growth spurt soon. I loved playing with him...I think we will be good buddies.
Abbie and her friend Kye sharing a sweet hug. These boys are so much fun!
And here I am practicing my Miss America wave.

Finally, a shot of me eating my new favorite food...french fries. Nope, they weren't "oven baked", they were the ones full of greasy goodness. Please don't freak out on my mommy...she is really good about giving us healthy foods. But, a kid needs to be a kid once in a while, huh?
