Beautiful Sweater

Mommy has a bunch of really pretty clothes in her closet. Abbie and I love to go in and pull them off the hangers and attempt to wear them. Probably the most special item of all, though, is this beautiful sweater. Adorned with gold sequins, pearls, and sparkling dancing reindeer, it outshines all other sweaters. Mommy says this dates back to her teaching years and she is embarrassed that she even has it in her closet. I have no idea why! I think it is lovely!

As Promised...

Another go at the cupcake...don't be fooled by the picture. I am not a cupcake girl! Mommy says she can pretty much get Abbie to do anything with the promise of a cupcake. Not me. Mommy's going to have to come up with something better to bribe me with. No sweet tooth here!
My first toothbrush...Now that I am ONE, mommy says I need to be brushing my 2 whole teeth, and 2 half teeth. I like this! And, Abbie showed my how to suck all the toothpaste off and swallow it when I'm done. Yummy!

A new princess dress...need I say more?
A concert at the Arboretum...Noni and Hampaw go to Cool Thursday concerts every week and they invited us to come along this week. It was really hot, but I don't remember the last time I got to stay up that late. Hampaw even bought us these cool glow in the dark necklaces.

And, finally, a visit to the cabin, to top off my birthday week...here is the view from the cabin of our "park." Isn't it pretty here? We just love it! We love to take a bath in the gigantic blue tub. And guess what...we saw deer! Well, actually, I had already fallen asleep, but Mommy, Noni, Hampaw and Abbie saw deer. They came so close, they said. Hey, Mom, next time why don't you let me stay up, too, if you think something that neat might happen again!

Today is the Day!!!

Well, today, at 5:43 pm, it will be official...I'll be ONE! I am really excited about this next year. Today, mommy had to run some errands, but she made time to take us to one of our favorite hangouts...the indoor playground at church. I had lots of fun playing with my sister. Then, for lunch, mommy cut my sandwich into strips, instead of little chunks! She said that I am getting to be a big girl and can start to eat my food like a big girl. I say, "Bring on the chips and salsa!"

I'm ONE! Do you like my new trick?
And, yes, Abbie is 2. She has not stopped reminding everyone of this. OK, Abbie, 2 is pretty neat...but if you ask me, 1 is where the fun is:)!

Happy Birthday To Me!

Can you believe I am about to be 1? Me neither. This first year has flown my so fast. And I have learned to do so much...sitting up, crawling, standing (but not walking yet), saying my first words (now I have quite an impressive vocab), eating big girl food, drinking from a cup, and the list goes on and on. To help me celebrate this monumental event, Mommy and Daddy threw a party for me tonight! It's hard to believe so many people came to my house to celebrate ME. Buy, hey, you only have one first birthday. Here are some highlights...

I have sooooo many new toys to play with! Thank you so much to everyone! Mommy promised me that everything was new, and had not been played with by Abbie yet:).
What's this, Mom? I think I'll just pick these sprinkles off, one by one.
Ummmm, I don't think I like this being on my hands. Can I get a washcloth over here?
My family! It was really hot, so mommy's "backyard and bubbles" theme didn't work out the way she had planned. But we were able to get a shot when it cooled off a little.
And every big sister needs a new princess dress! Grandma Pat brought this for Abbie so she wouldn't feel left out. Isn't it pretty? Mommy seemed a little worried that this dress would trump all the other dresses when she is trying to get us ready for church in the morning:).

My actual birthday isn't until Tuesday, but Mommy likes to celebrate birthdays all week long! I think I am going to have lots of fun this week. I may even give the cake another go. Maybe I'll like it better the second time around:).

Until next time....

Following in Daddy's Footsteps

My Daddy is a sailor. He knows a lot about boats and wind. Someday, I hope to be a sailor too! Daddy says not to worry, cause it's in my blood...whatever that means.

Saturday, after swimming and dinner at the yacht club, Daddy took us out for a sail. My first time ever on a sailboat! We got to play with a bunch of ropes and feed the fish over the side of the boat. Did you know fish like Gerber Puffs, too? Abbie and I were very brave, and although I really didn't like wearing a life jacket, I think I'll go sailing again soon.

Here's Abbie helping Daddy clean the boat, before we went out.
So many ropes! A girl could get caught in here!
Since Abbie is older than I am, she got to drive. Daddy said that I can drive next year...I can't wait!

A Gift From Tiger

Would anyone like a new cat? Because after my mom saw this when we returned home today...
I have a feeling Tiger won't be staying with us too much longer! Yes, boys and girls, what you are seeing are the remainders of a bird. This seems to be becoming a pattern, since we have been finding lizard heads randomly throughout the house.

Although my Mommy is a little more than irritated and grossed out, she said she wouldn't really get rid of the cat. However, she may have daddy dead bolt lock the cat door so that Tiger becomes an exclusively outdoor cat.

Here is a picture of our little murderer.

***Edited to agree with my commenters...Now that I look at it closer, I see that it is a mouse. I guess Mommy just saw blood and guts and immediatly discarded it:). I may have to bury this post because the memory of what we saw is just to sickening!

Let's go to the movie...

Let's go see the stars! Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber that is:). Our hometown movie theater shows $1 movies every Tuesday for preschool age kids. So today, mommy took us! Abbie did really good, sitting still throughout the entire movie. About 45 minutes into it though, I got a little wiggle worm-ish, and we had to get up and stand off to the side. That was better, and we were able to finish the movie. I told mommy that next time, I would probably rather stay with a sitter and let her and Abbie enjoy it together.

Here is a picture of Abbie and some of her friends after the movie. What a fun day!
Thanks to Mommy's friend, Jen, for the picture. Next time, I'll make sure Mommy brings her camera so that we can capture some inside pics.

A Few Firsts, and a Couple of Birthdays

My first black eye..."shiner"
My first ever attempt at climbing the stairs...I am not one for adventure...but that may be about to change:).
My first "whole" graham cracker...mommy usually breaks them up for me...I am getting so big!
Abbie's first time with the extended feather duster...Mommy got rid of her cleaning lady, so she has to enlist us for help now.

Birthday #1...Happy Birthday Grandma Pat!!!

Birthday #2...Happy Birthday America!!!

***Mommy wanted to add that she promises she is not posing in the above picture. The fireworks were really that neat:).

I Now Pronounce You...

Husband and Wife! Mommy's cousin, Micah got married to a beautiful girl (a.k.a the princess), Karin last weekend. The wedding was at the Galvez Hotel and was so pretty. It was my first wedding to ever go to and I can't wait for more!

Funny story...Mommy got a great idea from her friend, Sydney, to tell Abbie that we were going to see a real princess. Before the wedding, Abbie could not stop talking about the princess, her beautiful white dress, the dancing, and the cake she would get from the princess if she sat still and quiet for a while. Well, on the way to see the princess, Abbie fell asleep in the car. This is a rare occurance. And even more rare, she stayed asleep as Daddy carried her in, and she slept through the entire wedding. She missed the whole thing! She did get to meet the princess at the reception though, and the princess did give her cake!

Here are some pictures of our fun night...

Abbie, snoozing away in Noni's lap!

Me, in a big girl chair!
Me and the best Daddy in the whole wide world!
My Uncle Andy and Aunt Erin!
My Hampaw and Noni!
Me and Mommy!
Funny girls!

Sharing a giggle with my cousin, Emily!

And finally, the bride and groom!
