Abbie entered the annual Kid Fish Tournament in our neighborhood last Saturday. Since I was sick, I had to stay home with my Meme (but we still had lots of fun). Abbie, Mommy, and Grandaddy headed out to the pond early in the morning.
Here she is, looking all official with her contestant #40 bib on her back, her Disney Princess tackle box (filled with snacks and gummy worms), and her Barbie fishing pole (thanks, Santa!).

Here is the expression on her face after mommy helped her reel in the first catch of the day. She was NOT feeling it. I think the hook through the side of the fish face and the blood gushing out the mouth turned her off to fishing. She wouldn't even stand by it for a picture.

And here is Mr. Fish, going back into the water, to let his booboo heal up. Sorry, little guy!

After that, Abbie decided it would be more fun, and eco friendly, to just toss leaves and sticks into the pond.

Thanks, Grandaddy, for teaching Abbie the sport of trout fishing. Maybe we can try it again sometime. Maybe when we are hungry for fish sticks?

Is it just me or is that fish swimming up side down?
That fish looks like he may have an un-healable booboo.
Love your cutie girl!
Mommy said she thought the same thing about the fish, but apparently that is quite normal for trout that have been "hooked." The fish recovered quickly and swam away (probably to an ultimate destiny of being fried that night for dinner).
So I guess a non-gummy worm on the hook is out of the question?
